Our team program exists for the benefit of the athlete. We know children are motivated to participate in athletics by the desire to have fun and for the achievement of self-worth. We believe that through making work fun, our kids will develop good work habits that will lead to individual success. The self-worth of our athletes is always associated with their character and integrity rather then their gymnastic achievements. We realize that not all athletes have the same ability, but they can learn a positive work ethic and take pride in their individual progress.
Top Guns and Junior Guns are the first steps in the boy's competitive gymnastics program and considered our pre-competitive team. The Top Gun level focuses on building a strong and broad foundation of skills that prepares the gymnast for the competitive level. The athlete train on all of the six men's Olympic events plus skill training on the trampoline.
The next segment of our boys program consists of four levels of compulsory routines. Each of these levels builds upon skills learned in the previous level. These compulsory levels help the boys to develop the strong basics they will need later for the optional levels. The boys compete in USA Gymnastics sanctioned competitions where they compete against other boys in the same levels from other clubs around our state and region.
Beginning with Level 8, the boys enter the optional level of our program. The routines at these levels, while still having certain difficulty and special requirements, are created by the gymnast and his coach to show the talent and creativity of each individual. Boys who continue on into the optional levels of our program train up to four days a week, and may qualify to the national championships.
